I’m Dylan Holton
It was June 7th, 2005, I was 17 years old and I had only two more weeks of high school. The local news headline in my hometown of Pictou County, Nova Scotia was titled “Chasing The Dream.” I had 11 Major League Baseball teams contact me to potentially be drafted to play Major League Baseball. My dad and I watched closely on the TV that night.
Although I wasn’t drafted, there was no disappointment. I quickly had offers to universities throughout the US & Canada. After a lot of consideration, I chose to play for two years at the Prairie Baseball Academy in Lethbridge, Alberta becoming a 2x All Canadian, and then was recruited to The University of Mount Olive in North Carolina. I was named captain along with winning an NCAA National Championship while having the biggest hit in our university’s baseball team‘s history. My coach still contacts me to this day to remind me about it, although I would never forget it.
Where I am is where I belong
After playing three seasons in the Western Major Baseball League in Alberta, Canada, and one season in the Coastal Plains League in Virginia, USA, multiple injuries led to music reclaiming the centre stage in my life.
At 23 years old, I signed a record deal to perform my original music all over the world.
I performed through California, Florida, Hawaii, Alaska, New Zealand, Fiji, Australia, The Virgin Islands, Mexico, Jamaica, Bahamas and the list goes on. My songs and stories inspired thousands around the world and I quickly realized what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. It was definitely music at the time, but as I grew older, I realized it was something much bigger than performing…
Here’s what I learned about myself during my journey. I am a storyteller, musician and entrepreneur passionate about inspiring and equipping people of all walks of life to pursue their dreams and build vibrant lives full of meaning and purpose.
Through my songwriting, vocal performances and speaking engagements, I love building powerful emotional connections with my audience. My energy, warmth and passion for living life to the fullest are contagious, and my knack for sharing relatable yet inspiring stories motivates listeners to take action in their own lives.
Over the last 15 years of performing and speaking live all over the world, I realized I could do even more to help others. This is why I created Capital Content based out of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. At Capital Content, we improve the visibility and credibility of any business, brand and entrepreneur so they can enjoy greater profitability. It’s my job to help purpose-driven entrepreneurs tell their stories to help build impactful brands through compelling photography, videography and more.
Overall, when I help someone reach their full potential in business or their overall lifestyle, that has become my new home run and my new hit single! My mother and father gave me the greatest gift in life I could ever ask for; opportunity. My goal is to continue doing that for others.
What I Value
Family
Today I dedicate my life’s purpose to family. I’ve been married to my beautiful wife, Siobhan, for 5 years already and how we met is a story in itself. We are raising our three beautiful boys Gadd, Nash and Shay. Raised on a farm in Nova Scotia, Canada, my parents and two older sisters have always been my best friends and whether they know it or not, they taught me about friendship and love. Something I’ll be passing down to my boys for the years to come.
Passion
There’s a life out there you’re dreaming of and I firmly believe it’s one you’re capable of living. From baseball, to music, and to creating the business of my dreams, it all started and continues to thrive because of one thing; passion. Passion is your energy. When you feel that power, that’s when you need to continue living doing that one thing that excites you.
Purpose
I used to constantly question why I was here. During my baseball days, I had big goals to achieve greatness to give back to family while inspiring others. For my music career, it’s always been to help others through entertainment. Now with my business, my purpose keeps coming back to helping others achieve more in their lives than they ever could have imagined.
